Paul Robeson was a towering figure in the history of African Americans and the world. He also starred in several films, including "The Emperor Jones" (1933),"Sanders of the River" (1935),and "The Proud Valley" (1940).
Robeson's acting and singing career was often overshadowed by his political activism. He was a vocal supporter of the civil rights movement and a critic of racism and imperialism. He was also a member of the Communist Party USA. His political views made him a target of the FBI and other government agencies.
Activism and Advocacy
Robeson was a lifelong activist for social justice and human rights. He fought against racism, imperialism, and poverty. He was a vocal supporter of the NAACP and the civil rights movement. He also spoke out against the Spanish Civil War and the Vietnam War.
