The Ship

The RMS Titanic was the largest and most luxurious ocean liner ever built at the time of its launch in 1911. The ship was over 882 feet long and 108 feet wide, and it had a gross tonnage of over 46,000 tons. The Titanic was designed to be unsinkable, and it was equipped with 16 watertight compartments that could be sealed off in the event of a hull breach.

The Voyage

The Titanic set sail from Southampton, England, on April 10, 1912, bound for New York City.
